Clarifications on the recent Star Observer article about the Chamber Q and A. I know Kaitlyn is a great reporter, so I must have REALLY forgotten to adequately clarify some of my accomplishments, ideas and positions. In the interest of sounding less like a Valley-Girl-Caveman of non sequiturs and ambiguity, here are a couple of qualifiers. This, my friends, is why I am a reluctant politician : )

Mother Nature made me a sign.

Hey there. Welcome to LizMforMayor! I know nothing about creating websites, but here’s my best shot. It’s definitely got a third grade vibe (actually a third grader could probably make a better website, these days). Still, you’ll find what you need to know about me, why I’m running, what I’ve been up to during my 26 years in Hudson, and (if I can stay on my mad design roll), some t-shirts, too (you will find those on the About link/page, up top)!

A short video for you, introducing the most basic ideas behind this campaign. Local government is our last, best hope to return to civil discourse, but we need to be deliberate about inviting everyone to engage. More voices, more choices mean a better, sustainable future for all.

Sign production. In the interest of saving money, and not perpetuating MORE plastic signs, here goes Operation Reduce, Reuse, Recycle…

Watch for these little guys on your door…I am determined to walk every last block in Hudson, (but I won’t be knocking; I know everyone is pretty sick of talking to politicians right now!) You will find all my contact info, so feel free to send me a email message about your vision for the future of Hudson. (And it doubles as a bookmark!)

My own personal belief is that unlimited financial contributions and money in politics has exponentially accelerated the decline of our Democratic process, so I will keep things simple; no outside financial contributions…BUT that said, please let me know if you want to help walk my message around!

More of these listening sessions to come!

I love Hudson.

It’s that simple. It is a beautiful city, with bright, creative people, on the banks of one of the original Wild and Scenic Rivers, the beautiful St. Croix. I hope to elevate and engage all of the citizens of Hudson, in an effort to be an example of collaboration, conversation and respect in small town government. We are better together!

Have we crossed paths? We might have! Here are some people, places and programs I might know you from…

EP Rock. I teach math, reading and do noon duty there. They call me Miss Liz : )

Pop Up Players Community Ed Theater classes. That’s me too.

Hudson Destination Imagination. I’ve run this program for 22 years, and THAT is how I know how creative Hudson youth can be!

Just Add Water, The Phipps Summer Art Camps. (I may have taken you or your child out kayaking in the bay!) LOVE the St. Croix!

Hudson Urban Forestry Board. Have we planted a tree together?

Community Murals, including the big pollinator mural on Vine St, Project 30.1, and murals in River Crest, Willow River and EP Rock elementary schools.

You might know someone in my family…my husband Maury rides bikes with some pretty cool people. The pedal kind. And my five kids have been meeting remarkable friends all over the place here, for over 30 years! Sydney, Max, Clara, Kate and Owen Malanaphy.

Could be somewhere else that we’ve met too…I value ALL of these amazing experiences and people…and so many more!

Mary Ellefson, The first woman Mayor of Hudson! WWMD.
